展览预告：冬至约画——罗希贤港城节气与风俗连环画展

前言

此次展览是市美术馆推出的“看得见的二十四节气——非遗传承系列教展系列活动”中的重要一环。

从今年的“春分”开始，我馆以“二十四节气”为内容，通过集合本馆的教育人才与外聘专业人士等方式，主创和编制了《看得见的二十四节气》美术馆课程，并在馆内“创意工坊”与展厅现场等地引导公众进行艺术创作实践，取得了良好的社会反响。为了让此活动办得更生动，让艺术更直观、更接地气地反映我们港城人民的节气、风俗习惯，我们特别邀请上海著名风俗画、连环画家——罗希贤先生，于今年“冬至”到来之日举办《冬至约画——罗希贤港城节气与风俗连环画展》。

罗希贤先生是港城人民的老朋友，他自09年起便陆续创作一批反映张家港风俗习惯的国画作品。在本次展览中，我们用五个主题来展示他的这些艺术成果：一是“冬至大如年”主题风俗画，由展示在“前言”展板上的独幅作品构成。此作品为艺术家受美术馆之邀而专门创作，反映“冬至”时节港城人民的传统风俗习惯；二是“江南好”系列着色绘画，这批作品在艺术家原有的连环画基础上，吸收了农民画的艺术风格，反映江南一带传统的风土人情；三是“图说张家港风俗”，用102幅单色线描的连环画形式，将港城各种传统风俗习惯全面表现；四是“江南六节庆”，分别取材于重阳、元宵、春节、端午、中秋、清明，这批作品有的直接取材于港城实景，观众也可在展出里看到这些实景图片与习俗阐述；五是“二十四节气诗画”，有24件反映节气风俗的作品，遗憾的是这批作品已被北京一家文化机构收藏，在此我们只能展出高清的喷绘作品。

最后感谢促成本次展览完成的致公党上海市静安区委、致公党张家港支部等机构和单位，希望本次展览能引发港城观众，乃至江南观众对传统习俗的共同回忆和怀念，并以这样的方式传承和弘扬我们的传统习俗与文化。

Preface

This exhibition is an integral part of “Visible Twenty-Four Solar Terms—The Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Activity Series” organized by Zhangjiagang Art Museum.

Since the Vernal Equinox of 2018, a museum course named Visible Twenty-Four Solar Terms based on the 24 Solar Terms of China has been presented by Zhangjiagang Art Museum both at its Creative Workshop and within various exhibition spaces. Produced by the museum’s public education department together with external experts, and aiming at guiding the audience to create artworks, the course and course-related activities have won the heart of the local community. In order to inject more vigor into these activities and to present artworks that may better showcase the solar-term related local customs in the Port City, we have invited Mr. Luo Xixian, famous Shanghai-based genre and comic painter, to throw a show named A Date for Drawing at the Winter Solstice: Luo Xixian’s Comics Exhibition on Solar Terms and Customs in Zhangjiagang at the day of Winter Solstice this year.

An old friend of Zhangjiagang, Mr. Luo has created since 2008 a number of traditional Chinese paintings reflecting the local customs of the Port City. These works are shown in five sections in the present exhibition: “Section One: Winter Solstice, Another Spring Festival” consists of one single genre painting displayed on the “Preface” board which the artist was commissioned by the museum to create that represents the traditional customs in Zhangjiagang at the Winter Solstice; “Section Two: Joyous Jiangnan” includes a series of colored comic works which combine the style of peasant painting with that of traditional comics to embody the culture and spirit of the region located immediately to the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River; “Section Three: Graphic Introduction to the Local Customs of Zhangjiagang” uses 93 black-and-white line drawings to give a panoramic account of the traditional customs of the Port City; “Section Four: Six Festivals in Jiangnan” consists of artworks depicting local scenes during six traditional Chinese festivals (including the Double Ninth Festival, the Lantern Festival, the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Tomb Sweeping Festival) in Zhangjiagang and nearby cities to the south of the Yangtze River with actual-site photos and brief introductions to various customs placed right beside the works; “Section Five: Poems and Paintings on the Twenty-Four Solar Terms” includes high-definition replicas of 24 works reflecting cultures and customs during all the 24 Solar Terms which due to intellectual property reasons (they are collected by a Beijing-based cultural institution) cannot be shown in the present exhibition.

Finally, we are indebted to Shanghai Jing’an District Committee and Zhangjiagang County Committee of China Zhi Gong Party for support. It’s been our sincere hope that this exhibition would kindle the collective memory and reminiscence of past traditions and customs on the part of not only the local audience in Zhangjiagang but also the audience at large in the Jiangnan region so that we together might better inherit and promote our shared traditional customs and cultures.
